Case Study – Pulse Oximetry
Harnessing its expertise from decades of experience with OLED technology, CDT developed a proof of concept for a non-invasive method of monitoring heart rate and oxygen saturation in the blood. By combining the different signals from two OLEDs, and detecting them with an organic photodiode (OPD) on the same substrate, both heart rate and blood oxygenation level can then be calculated.
Combining our technical know-how with insights and skills from leading research and clinical institutions and from end users, we demonstrated prototypes of thin sensor devices that could be highly conformable, ultimately enabling wearable applications such as unobtrusive monitoring patches.
This is no longer a technology that we are actively progressing.
